In this irreverent memoir (exposé?) of Silicon Valley life, Garcia-Martinez tells the story of his life as a quant on Wall Street to becoming a tech entrepreneur and then a product manager at Facebook, before ultimately leaving it all behind to sail the world on his sailboat. Unabashedly opinionated and written with wit, flair and panache, the author takes readers on a light-hearted, didactic tour into the dark underbelly of the ads tech, internet advertising, and social media that undergird the internet. If “Wolf of Wall Street” met “Silicon Valley”, then this book might be a great screenplay for it.
